Fire Extinguisher Use ( OH205 --- 1 hour )
This training will familiarize participants with the general principles of portable fire extinguisher use.  Participants practice by applying their training on a controlled fire.


Hazard Communication ( OH 101 --- 1.5 hours )
This course is required for employees who work with or around hazardous chemicals, as required by the Texas Hazard Communication Act.  It includes information on container labels and material data safety sheets, safe handling of workplace chemicals, proper use of personal protective equipment, and first-aid and emergency procedures.


Laboratory Safety ( OH 201 --- 2 hours ) (Required for Laboratory Personnel only)
This course is required for employees who work in a laboratory setting with hazardous chemicals or biological materials.  It discusses safety equipment and safe work practices, emergency procedures and equipment, chemical storage guidelines, spill clean up, and general disposal procedures.

The above courses are offered by the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS).  To check class schedules and to enroll, go to TXClass at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/txclass/index.WBX.  To find OEHS class schedules, enter “OH” for Course ID and select “Class Listing” under the menu “Select an Option”.  To enroll in a class, enter the complete “Course ID”, your Social Security number for “ID Number” and select “Enroll” under “Select an Option.”  You may also enroll by calling the automated phone system at 475-8074.


Laboratory Classes: Laboratory classes start at the scheduled time and late arrivals can not be admitted.


 

Class Locations:  Check the class schedule for class location.  For classes held at the Service Building Training Room (SER 132), walk north through SER courtyard to the two-story building in back, and take exterior metal stairs up to the training room.
