Prof. Mikhail Belkin Elected Fellow of the Optical Society of America

Texas ECE professor Dr. Mikhail Belkin has been elected to Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA). Prof. Belkin was elected for “for seminal contributions to photonics technology, spectroscopy and nonlinear optics in mid-infrared and terahertz spectral range.”

Founded in 1916, The Optical Society  is "the leading professional association in optics and photonics, home to accomplished science, engineering, and business leaders from all over the world." OSA Members "who have served with distinction in the advancement of optics and photonics may be proposed for election to the class of Fellow. The number of Fellows is limited by the Society's bylaws to be no more than 10% of the total OSA Membership and the number elected each year is limited to approximately 0.4% of the current membership total."

Prof. Belkin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He joined Texas ECE in 2008. He has been the recipient of an NSF CAREER Award, a DARPA Young Faculty Award, and the AFOSR Investigator Program Award.
